Låsningssätt, meaning "locking method" or "locking technique" in Swedish, refers to the various ways a mechanical lock can be engaged or disengaged. Common låsningssätt include pin tumbler mechanisms, wafer locks, and lever tumbler locks. In a pin tumbler lock, the most prevalent type for doors, a series of pins of varying lengths must be aligned to a specific height by a key for the cylinder to turn. Wafer locks use flat wafers instead of pins, often found in simpler applications like cabinets or padlocks. Lever tumbler locks involve a set of levers that must be lifted to precise heights by the key's bitting.
