Läpinättyvyys

Läpinättyvyys, or transparency, is a concept that refers to the ability to see through a substance or a situation. In the context of materials, it describes how much light can pass through an object. For example, glass is a transparent material because light can travel through it unimpeded, allowing us to see objects on the other side. Conversely, opaque materials, such as wood or metal, do not allow light to pass through them, making them impenetrable to sight. Translucency is a related concept where some light can pass through, but it is scattered, making the object behind it blurry or indistinct, like frosted glass.

Beyond the physical properties of materials, läpinättyvyys also has significant metaphorical applications. In areas like governance, business, and organizational management, transparency refers to openness and accountability. It means that information is readily available, decisions are made in a clear and understandable manner, and processes are observable.
