Läpimeno is a Finnish noun that denotes the action or result of passing through something or the state of being able to pass through a boundary, material, or medium. It is derived from the verb läpäistä, meaning to pass through, and the nominalizing suffix -meno. The term is used across different domains with related but distinct senses.

In production and logistics, läpimeno refers to throughput—the quantity or rate at which units move through a process, production line, or facility over a given time period. It is a central metric for capacity planning, bottleneck analysis, and process optimization, helping to assess how efficiently a system handles work.

In transportation planning, läpimeno denotes through traffic, i.e., vehicles or travelers that pass through a region without originating there or stopping at local destinations.
