The British Thermal Unit (BTU) is another unit of heat energy, commonly used in the United States and some other countries, especially in the context of heating and cooling systems. One BTU is approximately the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one pound of water by one degree Fahrenheit.

The relationship between these units is fixed. For example, one calorie is approximately equal to 4.184 joules, and one BTU is approximately equal to 1055 joules or 252 calories. Understanding these conversions is important for comparing measurements and ensuring consistency in calculations across different disciplines. The choice of unit often depends on the specific application and the established conventions within that field.
