Lämpökamerat

Lämpökamerat, also known as thermal imaging cameras or infrared cameras, are devices that detect and visualize infrared radiation emitted by objects. This radiation is invisible to the human eye but is present in all objects with a temperature above absolute zero. Lämpökamerat convert this infrared energy into a visible image, displaying temperature differences as variations in color or intensity.

The core component of a lämpökamera is a sensor, typically a microbolometer, which is sensitive to infrared wavelengths. When infrared radiation strikes the sensor, it causes a change in electrical resistance or voltage, which is then processed to create the thermal image. Different colors in the image represent different temperature ranges, with common palettes including grayscale (hotter is lighter), rainbow, or ironbow (hotter is brighter red/yellow).
