Lämmönsäätöventtiili

Lämmönsäätöventtiili, often referred to as a thermostatic radiator valve (TRV) in English, is a self-regulating device installed on hot water heating systems, typically on radiators. Its primary function is to control the temperature of a room by regulating the flow of hot water entering the radiator.

The core component of a lämmönsäätöventtiili is a thermostatic element, which contains a temperature-sensitive liquid or wax. As the room temperature rises, this substance expands, pushing a pin that gradually closes the valve, thereby reducing the flow of hot water. Conversely, as the room cools, the substance contracts, allowing the pin to retract and the valve to open, increasing the water flow and thus the heat output.

This automatic regulation allows individual rooms to be maintained at different desired temperatures without requiring constant manual adjustment of the central heating system. For example, a bedroom might be set to a lower temperature than a living room. By preventing overheating and unnecessary energy consumption, lämmönsäätöventtiilit contribute to energy efficiency and cost savings in heating buildings. They are a common and effective tool for improving comfort and optimizing the performance of hydronic heating systems.
