Lämmitysväliaineen

Lämmitysväliaine refers to the medium used to transfer heat in a heating system. In most residential and commercial heating applications, this medium is water, often referred to as hydronic heating. Water is favored due to its excellent thermal properties, including high specific heat capacity, which allows it to absorb and store a significant amount of heat. It is also relatively inexpensive and readily available.

In some specialized systems, other substances may be used as lämmitysväliaine. For instance, in certain industrial processes or in very low-temperature heating applications, a mixture of water and antifreeze, such as glycol, might be employed to prevent freezing. In solar thermal systems, a similar glycol-water mixture is often used to protect the collectors and piping from frost damage. Steam can also serve as a lämmitysväliaine, particularly in large-scale district heating systems or industrial settings, where its high energy content is beneficial for efficient heat transfer over long distances. However, steam systems require higher pressures and temperatures, which can increase complexity and maintenance requirements.
