Lähetysmenetelmät refers to various techniques and strategies employed in transmitting information or signals from a source to one or more recipients. These methods are fundamental to communication systems, whether they involve analog or digital data.

One of the most basic methods is broadcast, where a single transmitter sends a signal to a potentially unlimited number of receivers. This is commonly used in radio and television broadcasting. Point-to-point communication, in contrast, involves a direct link between a single transmitter and a single receiver, such as in a telephone call or a direct internet connection. Multipoint or multicast transmission allows a single transmitter to send data to a specific group of receivers, offering more efficiency than individual point-to-point transmissions for group communication.

In the context of wireless communication, methods like frequency division multiple access (FDMA), time division multiple access (TDMA), and code division multiple access (CDMA) are employed to allow multiple users to share the same transmission medium without interfering with each other. FDMA divides the available frequency spectrum into distinct channels, TDMA divides access to a channel into time slots, and CDMA assigns unique codes to each user's signal, allowing them to coexist within the same frequency band.

For wired systems, such as Ethernet, various signaling techniques are used to encode digital data onto electrical or optical signals, enabling reliable transmission over cables.
