The primary goal of broadcasting is to disseminate information, entertainment, news, and educational content to the public efficiently and effectively.

In Estonia, broadcasting has a long history dating back to the early 20th century, with the establishment of the first radio station in 1924. Over the decades, broadcasting evolved alongside technological advancements, transitioning from analog to digital formats. Today, broadcasting includes traditional terrestrial and satellite channels alongside online streaming services, catering to diverse audience preferences.

Lähetustegevus is regulated by the Estonian Broadcasting Authority (*Raadio ja Televisiooni Nõukogu*), which ensures compliance with legal standards, including content guidelines, advertising rules, and technical requirements.
