Läckageinduktans, also known as leakage inductance, is a concept in electromagnetism and electrical engineering that describes the self-inductance of a transformer's winding that is not coupled to the other winding. In an ideal transformer, all the magnetic flux produced by one winding would link with the other winding. However, in a real transformer, some of the flux lines escape and do not link with the secondary coil, even if they link with the primary coil. This unlinked flux is responsible for the leakage inductance.

Leakage inductance is a parasitic inductance that exists in all real transformers. It arises because the magnetic field produced by the current in one winding does not perfectly link with the other winding. This imperfect coupling is due to the physical geometry of the windings and the core material. The amount of leakage inductance depends on factors such as the distance between windings, the shape and size of the windings, and the permeability of the core.

In transformer analysis, leakage inductance can be represented as a small inductor in series with the ideal transformer. This series inductance effectively limits the rate of change of current in the winding and can affect the transformer's performance, particularly at high frequencies. It can lead to voltage drops and affect the power transfer capabilities of the transformer. Minimizing leakage inductance is often a design goal in transformer manufacturing to improve efficiency and performance. Techniques to reduce leakage inductance include winding the coils closely together, using specific winding arrangements, and employing magnetic core materials with high permeability.
