Lyraevariabelen

Lyraevariabelen, also known as Beta Lyrae, is a binary star system located in the constellation Lyra. It is one of the most well-known and studied variable stars in the night sky. The system consists of two stars, Beta Lyrae A and Beta Lyrae B, which are in a close orbit around each other. The primary star, Beta Lyrae A, is a blue giant, while the secondary star, Beta Lyrae B, is a hot, main-sequence star.

The variability of Lyraevariabelen is due to the interaction between the two stars. As they orbit each other, the gravitational forces cause the stars to distort and exchange material. This process leads to periodic changes in the brightness of the system, with a primary period of about 12.9 days.
