LyondellBasell Industries N.V. is a multinational chemical company and one of the world’s largest producers of polyolefins and other plastics, chemicals, and refining products. Registered in the Netherlands, it maintains dual corporate centers in Rotterdam and Houston, Texas, and trades publicly on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker LYB.

The company was formed in 2007 through the merger of Basell, a polyolefins producer, and Lyondell Chemical Company of the United States. LyondellBasell faced financial distress during the late 2000s, filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2009 and emerging from restructuring in 2010. It operates globally with a network of manufacturing sites, reforming and refining assets, and an extensive distribution system.

Its principal product lines include polyolefins—polyethylene and polypropylene—along with propylene oxide and derivatives, and polyols. The company also develops catalysts, polymerization technologies, and related services for polyolefin production, marketed under technology licenses and brands such as Spheripol and Spherizone. LyondellBasell serves customers in packaging, automotive, construction, electrical, healthcare, and consumer goods sectors, among others.
