Luuydinbiopsia

Luuydinbiopsia, also known as bone marrow biopsy, is a medical procedure used to obtain a sample of bone marrow for examination. This sample is typically taken from the iliac crest, a part of the pelvic bone. The procedure involves two main steps: a bone marrow aspiration and a bone marrow biopsy.

During bone marrow aspiration, a needle is inserted into the bone, and a small amount of liquid bone marrow is suctioned out. This liquid sample is then analyzed under a microscope to assess the number and appearance of blood cells, including red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. It also helps to identify any abnormal cells or changes in the bone marrow's production of these cells.

Following the aspiration, a bone marrow biopsy is performed. In this part of the procedure, a slightly larger needle is used to remove a small core of the solid bone marrow tissue. This core sample provides information about the cellularity and architecture of the bone marrow, which can be crucial for diagnosing various hematological conditions.
