Lumilukot

Lumilukot is a Finnish term that literally translates to "snow locks." It refers to a phenomenon occurring in Finland during winter when deep snowdrifts accumulate against buildings, fences, or other structures, effectively creating walls of snow that can block access or even trap individuals or vehicles. These snow locks are a direct result of strong winds and heavy snowfall, common during the Finnish winter.

The formation of lumilukot typically happens when wind blows snow from open areas and deposits it in sheltered spots, piling it up to considerable heights.
