Lombhullató

Lombhullató refers to deciduous trees and shrubs, a category of plants characterized by their shedding of leaves annually. This natural process typically occurs during the autumn or dry seasons, depending on the plant's specific climate and species. The shedding of leaves is a survival mechanism, helping these plants conserve water and energy during periods of unfavorable conditions, such as cold winters or drought.

The process begins with changes in leaf color as chlorophyll, the green pigment responsible for photosynthesis, breaks down. This allows other pigments, such as carotenoids (yellows and oranges) and anthocyanins (reds and purples), to become visible, creating the vibrant autumn foliage often admired. Once the leaves have served their photosynthetic purpose and the plant has reabsorbed essential nutrients, they detach from the branches.
