Logistikdokument

Logistikdokument, or logistics document, is a document used in supply chain logistics to capture and communicate information about goods as they move through the supply chain. It accompanies shipments, guides handling, informs carriers and customs, and provides a record for entities such as shippers, freight forwarders, warehouses, and receivers. Common types include packing lists, bills of lading or waybills, delivery notes, commercial invoices, and customs documents such as declarations of origin. The exact set of documents required depends on the transport mode (road, sea, air, rail) and the destination country, as well as applicable trade agreements and incoterms.

Typically, logistikdokument contains information about the parties involved, shipment references, dates, descriptions of goods, quantities, weights, dimensions, packaging, and handling instructions. It may also include tariff codes (HS codes), country of origin, hazardous goods information, container numbers and seals, and payment terms. The documents facilitate legal compliance, risk management, and efficient operations, enabling tracking, warehouse receipt, customs clearance, and billing. Digitalization has increased the use of electronic formats and standards such as EDI and GS1 to exchange logistikdokument between parties. Logistics documents may be stored electronically and retained for audits. Privacy and data protection considerations apply to sensitive information, and accuracy is critical to avoid delays and penalties.
