LixSi refers to a family of lithium-silicon alloys that form when silicon is lithiation during the operation of lithium-ion batteries. The notation denotes compositions Li_xSi, where x can vary from 0 to about 4.4. Among the best studied are the deeply lithiated Li15Si4 (equivalently Li3.75Si), a phase observed at high lithium content.
