Liuoksisäikeitys

Liuoksisäikeitys is a Finnish term that translates to "solution spinning" in English. It is a manufacturing process used to create fibers or films from a polymer solution. In this technique, a polymer is dissolved in a suitable solvent to form a viscous liquid. This solution is then extruded through a spinneret or a die, which is a device with one or more fine holes.

As the polymer solution emerges from the spinneret, it is often drawn into a coagulation bath or an evaporation chamber. The coagulation bath typically contains a non-solvent for the polymer, which causes the polymer to precipitate out of the solution and solidify into fibers. Alternatively, if an evaporation chamber is used, the solvent evaporates, leaving behind the solid polymer fibers. The process can also be adapted to produce films by extruding the solution onto a flat surface.

Liuoksisäikeitys is a versatile method employed in the production of various materials, including synthetic fibers for textiles, membranes for filtration, and specialized coatings. The properties of the resulting fibers or films, such as their diameter, strength, and porosity, can be controlled by adjusting parameters like the polymer concentration, solvent viscosity, extrusion rate, and the composition of the coagulation bath or evaporation conditions.
