Litiumtantalat

Litiumtantalat, often abbreviated as LiTaO3, is a synthetic crystalline material with significant piezoelectric and ferroelectric properties. It is a compound of lithium, tantalum, and oxygen, crystallizing in a trigonal structure. Its high Curie temperature, around 600-670 degrees Celsius depending on stoichiometry, makes it suitable for high-temperature applications. Litiumtantalat exhibits a strong pyroelectric effect, meaning it generates an electric charge when its temperature changes. This property, along with its piezoelectric and ferroelectric characteristics, makes it valuable in various technological fields.

The material is commonly used in the production of surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices, which are essential components in radio frequency filters for mobile phones and other wireless communication systems. Its excellent acousto-optic properties also lend themselves to applications in optical modulators and switches, where light signals can be controlled by electrical fields. Furthermore, litiumtantalat finds use in specialized sensors, transducers, and as a substrate for thin-film devices. The synthesis of litiumtantalat typically involves high-temperature melting and crystal growth techniques, such as the Czochralski method, to achieve high-purity single crystals.
