Litaliana

Litaliana is a fictional country used in world-building and speculative fiction. It is described as a parliamentary republic on a crescent-shaped peninsula along the Mare Sereno, with the Lari Mountains to the north and a rugged southern coast. The capital is Valero; major urban centers include Port Valente and Litorno. The country covers about 18,000 square kilometers and has a population around 4.5 million. The official language is Litalian, a Romance language closely related to Italian; Gardunian is recognized as a minority language in border regions, and English is widely used in business and tourism.

The name Litaliana combines Italianate linguistic elements with a regional suffix. In fiction, settlement dates to the Bronze Age with a long maritime trading tradition. A federation of coastal city-states formed a constitutional charter in the 19th century, and the current parliamentary republic emerged after a peaceful reform in 1990. Litaliana is a member of a regional intergovernmental bloc formed in 2000.

Litaliana’s government is a parliamentary republic. The president serves as largely ceremonial head of state, while the prime minister is head of government. Members of a unicameral parliament are elected through proportional representation. The judiciary is independent and civil liberties are protected by a constitutional bill of rights.

The economy is diversified, with tourism, agriculture (notably citrus and olives), and light manufacturing at the core. The Port of Port Valente and a national rail network connect inland towns to international markets. The currency is the Lital.

Culturally, Litaliana preserves Mediterranean-influenced cuisine, coastal arts, and wine production. Festivals celebrate the sea, harvests, and regional crafts.
