Liposomiske

Liposomiske is the Danish term for liposome-based systems or liposomal technology. Liposomes are small, spherical vesicles formed from phospholipid bilayers that enclose an aqueous core. Their structure enables them to carry hydrophilic compounds in the interior and hydrophobic substances within the lipid membrane, making them versatile carriers for a range of substances.

Liposomer can vary in size, typically from tens to hundreds of nanometers, and can be unilamellar or multilamellar. They are often stabilized by surface coatings such as polyethylene glycol (PEGylation) to extend circulation time in the bloodstream or functionalized with targeting ligands to enhance delivery to specific tissues. Production methods include thin-film hydration with subsequent size reduction by extrusion or sonication, as well as microfluidic approaches that allow precise control of size and lamellarity.

Applications of liposomiske technologies span medicine, cosmetics, and nutraceuticals. In medicine, liposomal formulations improve the stability and bioavailability of drugs, modulate pharmacokinetics, and can reduce toxicity. Notable examples are liposomal doxorubicin and liposomal amphotericin B, which have regulatory approvals in oncology and infectious disease contexts. In cosmetics and skin care, liposomes are used to enhance ingredient penetration and provide sustained release.

Advantages include improved drug stability, altered biodistribution, and reduced systemic toxicity. Limitations involve manufacturing complexity, storage stability, potential immunogenic or infusion-related reactions, and sometimes higher costs. Regulatory oversight focuses on safety, efficacy, and quality control, with several liposomiske products already approved in various regions.
