Lipidphasemediated
Lipidphasemediated refers to a biological process where the assembly, organization, or function of cellular components is influenced by the formation of lipid phases within cells. This phenomenon is particularly relevant in understanding the behavior of membranes and the formation of intracellular compartments that are not enclosed by traditional protein-based membranes. These non-membranous organelles, often called biomolecular condensates, arise from a process known as liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS). In LLPS, specific molecules, including lipids and proteins, can demix from the surrounding cytoplasm or nucleoplasm, forming distinct liquid-like droplets. The lipid composition of these droplets plays a crucial role in their formation, stability, and the recruitment of other molecules, thereby dictating their biological function.
The lipidphasemediated assembly of these condensates allows for the localized concentration of specific proteins and nucleic
