Linies

Linies is the Catalan term for lines and is used in other Romance-language varieties to denote linear figures. In English-language writing, linies may appear mainly in linguistic or typographic contexts, or as a proper noun in some instances.

Etymology: Linies derives from Latin linea, through Old French ligne and Spanish línea. In Catalan, the plural is línies, with an acute accent on the i; ASCII renderings often write it as linies.

In mathematics and geometry, a line is a one-dimensional figure that extends without end in two directions. In coordinate geometry it is described by equations or by two points. Lines may be straight, though the broader sense of a line can include concepts used in different geometric contexts.
