Lineoututgångar

Lineoututgångar, often shortened to lineouts, are a common feature on audio equipment. They represent a connection point that outputs a signal at a standardized line level. This means the signal is pre-amplified and strong enough to be fed directly into other audio devices such as amplifiers, mixers, or active speakers without requiring further significant gain.

The primary purpose of a lineoutgång is to distribute an audio signal. For instance, a musical instrument amplifier might have a lineoutgång to send its sound to a PA system or recording interface. Similarly, a CD player or digital audio player will typically have lineoutgångar to connect to an amplifier or receiver. These outputs are designed to carry an uncolored, clean signal, preserving the fidelity of the audio source.

Unlike speaker outputs, which are designed to drive loudspeakers and carry a much higher power signal, lineoutgångar carry a relatively low voltage signal. Attempting to connect a loudspeaker directly to a lineoutgång will result in no sound or severely distorted sound, as the output is not powerful enough. Conversely, connecting a lineoutgång to a microphone input without proper attenuation or impedance matching can overload and damage the microphone preamplifier. Understanding the function of a lineoutgång is crucial for correctly interfacing audio equipment.
