Likströmöverföring

Likströmöverföring is a method of transmitting electrical power over long distances with minimal loss of energy. The term "likström" is Swedish for "direct current," and "överföring" means "transmission." This technique is used in some high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems, particularly in applications where efficiency and reliability are critical.

In a traditional alternating current (AC) transmission system, electrical power is transmitted at a frequency of 50 or 60 Hz. However, as the distance between the source and the load increases, power losses due to resistance, inductive reactance, and capacitance become significant, which reduces the overall efficiency of the transmission system. This is where HVDC transmission systems, which utilize likströmöverföring, come into play.

In a HVDC system, electrical power is converted from AC to DC at the source, transmitted over long distances as DC, and then converted back to AC at the load. This process eliminates the power losses associated with AC transmission, such as impedance, inductive reactance, and capacitance.
