Liitäntäkorttityypit refer to various categories of interface cards, also known as expansion cards or add-in cards, used in computers and other electronic devices. These cards expand the functionality of a motherboard by providing additional ports or capabilities that are not built-in.

Common types of interface cards include graphics cards (GPU), which handle video output and processing. Network interface cards (NIC) enable computers to connect to a network, either wired (Ethernet) or wireless (Wi-Fi). Sound cards are responsible for audio input and output. Storage controllers, such as SATA or NVMe controllers, manage the connection and data transfer to storage devices like hard drives and SSDs. Other examples include USB expansion cards for more USB ports, capture cards for recording video input, and dedicated co-processors for specific tasks.

The physical connection for most modern interface cards is through expansion slots on the motherboard, most commonly PCI Express (PCIe). Older systems used different standards like PCI or AGP. The type of interface card is determined by its function and the type of expansion slot it is designed to fit. Selecting the appropriate interface card depends on the user's needs for performance, connectivity, and specific functionalities.
