Lemissió

Lemissió is not a standard Catalan word. It is a nonstandard orthographic variant that can appear in digitized or OCR-processed Catalan texts. The form represents the elided definite article l’ combined with a vowel-initial noun, when the apostrophe is present in normative writing. In standard Catalan, the phrase meaning “the emission” before a vowel-backed noun such as emissió is written as l’emissió, with an apostrophe and without a space.

Occasionally, transcription or optical character recognition errors remove spaces and punctuation, producing lemissió. This form is most often observed in scanned archives, metadata fields, or datasets where punctuation is stripped or misread. Because of its irregular status, lemissió can be mistaken for a proper noun or a distinct lexical item in digital indexes or search queries.

Impact and usage: in linguistic research and library science, lemissió is treated as a nonstandard artifact rather than a legitimate lemma.
