In emergency services, the Leitstelle is commonly called Notrufleitstelle or Feuerwehrleitstelle, while in rail or energy sectors it may function as Bahnleitstelle or grid control center.

In emergency services, the Leitstelle handles incoming alerts, determines priority, mobilizes fire, medical, and police resources, directs on-scene operations, coordinates with hospitals and incident command posts, and maintains incident documentation for reporting and review. It serves as the coordination hub between field units, dispatch centers, and coordinating authorities, ensuring rapid and organized response.
