Lauluväljak

Lauluväljak (Estonian for "Song Festival Grounds") is a public square and open-air performance venue in Tallinn, Estonia. It is best known as the main venue for the Estonian Song Festival (Laulupidu), a long-standing tradition of large-scale choral singing and folk dance that is a central part of Estonia's cultural life. The grounds provide a flexible space for concerts, festivals, and other public events and can accommodate large audiences on a summer evening.

The site was constructed in the mid-20th century as a purpose-built venue for national cultural events and has been renovated and maintained since Estonia's independence in 1991 to preserve its role as a major stage for cultural expression. The ensemble centers on an outdoor stage with terraced seating and a surrounding grass area, with pedestrian access and nearby parkland and facilities.

Lauluväljak hosts the Estonian Song Festival and related cultural events; the festival is a high-profile component of the country’s annual cultural calendar and has contributed to Estonia's national identity. In 2003, the surrounding song festival tradition was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The venue remains a focal point for public life in Tallinn, used for performances, rehearsals, and community gatherings, and is accessible by public transport when events are not in progress.
