Laskettavassa

It is the inessive singular form of the adjective laskettava, indicating a state or condition of calculability or countability. In Finnish, the inessive case answers questions like “in what state or place?”, so laskettavassa translates roughly to “in the calculable/countable state.” The same root appears in related forms such as laskettavuus (calculability) and laskettava (calculable, countable) in other cases or constructions.

In practice, laskettavassa is most often encountered in technical and academic texts, especially in mathematics, statistics, data processing, and other forms of analysis where values or quantities are described as being calculable or enumerable. It can appear in phrases such as laskettavassa muodossa (“in a calculable form”) or laskettavassa tilassa (“in a calculable state”). It is important to distinguish laskettava from related terms with different nuances. Laskettava (without a case ending) means “calculable” or “countable” in a general sense. Laskutettava, by contrast, means “billable” or “to be invoiced,” reflecting a commercial meaning rather than calculability. Laskuttava, a present participle, denotes “invoicing” or “the one who invoices,” and is not interchangeable with laskettava in most contexts.
