Labrumspecific is a term that refers to anatomical structures within the body, specifically the labrum. The labrum is a ring of cartilage that surrounds the rim of a joint socket, deepening it and providing stability. This structure is most commonly discussed in relation to the shoulder joint (glenoid labrum) and the hip joint (acetabular labrum).

The glenoid labrum in the shoulder plays a crucial role in maintaining the stability of the glenohumeral joint. It increases the depth of the glenoid fossa, enhancing the congruity between the humeral head and the socket. Tears of the glenoid labrum, often referred to as SLAP tears (Superior Labrum Anterior to Posterior) or Bankart lesions, can cause pain, clicking, and instability in the shoulder.

It also contributes to maintaining negative intra-articular pressure, which further aids in joint stability. Tears of the acetabular labrum can lead to hip pain, clicking, and limitations in range of motion, and are often associated with conditions like femoroacetabular impingement (FAI).
