Laakerijärjestelmä

Laakerijärjestelmä, often translated as bearing system, refers to the mechanical components and assembly designed to reduce friction and support relative motion between parts. This system typically involves at least two components, one of which rotates or moves relative to the other. The primary function of a bearing system is to facilitate controlled movement, whether it be rotation, linear motion, or oscillation, while simultaneously carrying applied loads.

Bearings themselves come in various forms, with common types including rolling-element bearings and plain bearings. Rolling-element bearings utilize balls or rollers to separate the moving surfaces, significantly reducing friction. Plain bearings, on the other hand, rely on sliding surfaces, often lubricated with oil or grease to minimize wear and friction.
