LOPAn

LOPAn, or Low Orbit Propellant Depot, is a concept in space exploration that involves establishing fuel depots in low Earth orbit (LEO). The primary goal of LOPAn is to reduce the cost and complexity of space missions by providing a readily available source of propellant for spacecraft. This can significantly lower the amount of fuel that needs to be launched from Earth, thereby reducing launch costs and increasing the efficiency of space missions.

The concept of LOPAn was first proposed in the early 2000s as a way to address the high costs associated with launching large amounts of propellant into space. Traditional space missions often require a significant amount of fuel to escape Earth's gravity and to maneuver in space. However, there are also challenges to overcome, such as the technical difficulties of establishing and maintaining fuel depots in space, as well as the need for international cooperation to share the costs and benefits of such a system.
