LENTICULAR
Lenticular is an adjective derived from Latin lenticularis meaning small lens, and is used in several fields to describe lens-shaped, disk-like, or curved forms. In astronomy, a lenticular galaxy is a type of galaxy on the Hubble sequence labeled S0. These galaxies have a prominent central bulge and an extended disk but lack the prominent spiral arms of spirals. They typically contain little gas and dust and show low or no current star formation, though some retain faint features and bars. Lenticular galaxies are considered transitional objects between ellipticals and spirals and are common in various environments, particularly in dense clusters where interactions may play a role.
In meteorology, lenticular clouds are stationary, lens-shaped clouds that form when stable, moist air flows over
In optics and printing, a lenticular lens is a sheet of plastic composed of many small cylindrical
In biology and anatomy the term describes any structure that resembles a lens in shape, for example
