LCDskjermen
LCDskjermen, or LCD screen, is a flat-panel display technology that generates images by modulating light with liquid crystals. In an LCD, liquid crystal molecules are trapped between two polarizing filters. An electric field, applied through drive electronics, changes the orientation of the crystals and thus controls how much light passes through. Since LCDs do not emit light themselves, they require a separate backlight, positioned behind the crystal layer.
Most contemporary LCDs use an active-matrix design with thin-film transistors (TFTs) to address individual pixels. Subtypes
LCDs come in a wide range of sizes and resolutions, and are common in computer monitors, televisions,
Advantages of LCDskjermen include low idle and active power consumption compared with older display technologies, compact
Environmental aspects include reduced hazardous materials with LED backlights and widespread recycling programs, though earlier LCDs
