Lämpötilamäärä

Lämpötilamäärä, often translated as temperature quantity or thermal quantity, is a concept used in certain thermodynamic contexts to describe the amount of thermal energy possessed by a system. It is not a standard SI unit like temperature itself (measured in Kelvin or Celsius) or energy (measured in Joules). Instead, it is more akin to a measure of heat content.

The concept arises when considering how much heat is required to change the temperature of a substance by a specific amount. For instance, if a system has a higher lämpötilamäärä, it would generally require more heat input to raise its temperature compared to a system with a lower lämpötilamäärä, assuming all other factors like mass and specific heat capacity are equal.

It is important to distinguish lämpötilamäärä from temperature. Temperature is an intensive property, meaning it doesn't depend on the amount of substance. Lämpötilamäärä, on the other hand, is an extensive property, dependent on the quantity of the substance. A larger object at the same temperature as a smaller object will have a greater lämpötilamäärä.

While not a formally defined physical quantity in all mainstream physics, the idea of lämpötilamäärä can be useful for conceptual understanding, particularly in introductory thermodynamics or specific engineering applications where relating heat transfer to temperature changes in bulk materials is crucial. It is closely related to the concept of heat capacity, which is the ratio of heat added to the resulting temperature change.
