Láncátviteli is a Hungarian term that translates to "chain transmission" or "chain drive" in English. It refers to a mechanical system that uses a chain to transfer rotational motion and power from one shaft to another. This is commonly achieved through the use of sprockets, which are toothed wheels that engage with the links of the chain.

The primary components of a láncátviteli system include the driving sprocket, the driven sprocket, and the chain itself. The driving sprocket is attached to the power source, such as an engine or motor, and rotates. As it turns, its teeth pull on the links of the chain. The chain, in turn, moves and transmits this rotational force to the driven sprocket, causing it to rotate. The ratio of the number of teeth on the driving sprocket to the driven sprocket determines the speed and torque multiplication of the system. A larger driven sprocket relative to the driving sprocket will result in a slower output speed but higher torque, and vice versa.
