Lágyítószer

Lágyítószer is the Hungarian term for a plasticizer. Plasticizers are additives that increase the plasticity or fluidity of a material, most commonly polymers like plastics and rubber. They work by embedding themselves between the polymer chains, reducing the intermolecular forces and thus lowering the glass transition temperature. This makes the material more flexible, easier to process, and less brittle.

The most common type of plasticizer is phthalate ester, though concerns about their potential health and environmental effects have led to increased use of non-phthalate alternatives. Other plasticizers include adipates, citrates, and epoxidized soybean oil.
