Kümnendväljendid, also known as decimal expressions or decimal fractions, are a way of representing numbers that are not whole numbers. They use a decimal point to separate the whole number part from the fractional part. The digits to the right of the decimal point represent fractions with denominators that are powers of ten. For example, in the number 3.14, the '3' is the whole number part, the decimal point separates it from the fractional part, and the '1' represents one-tenth (1/10) and the '4' represents four-hundredths (4/100).

The value of each digit in a decimal expression is determined by its position relative to the decimal point.
