Körkortsbeviljande

Körkortsbeviljande is the Swedish term for the process of granting a driver's license. This process is managed by the Swedish Transport Agency (Transportstyrelsen). To be eligible for a driver's license, individuals must meet specific requirements related to age, health, knowledge, and practical driving skills.

The process typically begins with obtaining a learner's permit, known as a 'körkortstillstånd'. This requires an application to the Transport Agency and passing an eye test. Following this, the applicant must undergo theoretical and practical training. Theoretical knowledge is tested through a written exam at a Trafikverket (Swedish Transport Administration) testing center. Practical driving skills are assessed through a driving test conducted by an examiner from Trafikverket.

Upon successful completion of both the theoretical and practical tests, and provided all other requirements are met, the Transport Agency will grant the driver's license. Different categories of driver's licenses exist, such as for passenger cars (B-körkort), motorcycles, and heavy vehicles, each with its own set of training and testing requirements. The process aims to ensure that all licensed drivers possess the necessary competence to operate a vehicle safely on public roads.
