One common strategy is literal translation, where the translator aims to maintain the exact wording and grammatical structure of the source text. This is often suitable for technical or highly structured content where precision is paramount. However, it can sometimes lead to awkward or nonsensical phrasing in the target language.

Equivalence translation, on the other hand, focuses on conveying the same meaning and effect as the source text, even if it requires significant changes in wording or structure. Domestication and foreignization are two contrasting strategies. Domestication aims to make the translated text feel familiar to the target audience by adapting cultural references and expressions. Foreignization, conversely, seeks to preserve elements of the source culture, allowing the target reader to experience a sense of the foreign.

Other strategies include transposition, which involves changing the grammatical category of a word (e.g., a verb to a noun), and modulation, where the perspective or viewpoint of the source text is altered.
