Käyttöturvatiedote is a Finnish term that translates to "Safety Data Sheet" (SDS) in English. The purpose of a käyttöturvatiedote is to provide comprehensive information on a substance or mixture to users, including workers, employers, and emergency responders.

A typical käyttöturvatiedote includes sixteen sections, covering aspects such as identification of the substance or mixture and the company, hazard identification, composition/information on ingredients, first-aid measures, fire-fighting measures, accidental release measures, handling and storage, exposure controls/personal protection, physical and chemical properties, stability and reactivity, toxicological information, ecological information, disposal considerations, transport information, regulatory information, and other information.

The creation and provision of käyttöturvatiedote are mandated by legislation, particularly the European Union's REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) regulation, which has been implemented in Finland. Manufacturers and importers are responsible for preparing and distributing these documents to their downstream users. Employers must ensure that these documents are accessible to their employees who handle or are exposed to hazardous chemicals.

The information contained within a käyttöturvatiedote is crucial for risk assessment and the implementation of appropriate safety measures in the workplace.
