Käyttäjäpalvelin refers to a server that provides resources or services to clients, which are typically user-operated computers. This is a fundamental concept in computer networking and the architecture of many software systems. The client-server model is the basis for how many applications function, from web browsing to email.

In this model, the server is a powerful machine that stores data, runs applications, and manages access to shared resources like printers or databases. Clients, on the other hand, are the devices that users interact with to request and receive these services. When a user opens a web page, their browser (the client) sends a request to a web server. The server processes the request and sends back the requested data, which the browser then displays.

The relationship is characterized by the server listening for requests and the client initiating them. This architecture allows for centralized management of data and resources, improving efficiency and security. Multiple clients can connect to a single server simultaneously, demonstrating its ability to handle many requests.
