Kytkentäakseli

Kytkentäakseli is a Finnish term that translates to "clutch shaft" or "layshaft" in English, depending on the context. In automotive engineering, it most commonly refers to a shaft within a manual transmission that carries gears but is not directly connected to the engine's crankshaft. This shaft is driven by the input shaft, which is connected to the engine via the clutch. The kytkentäakseli then transmits power to the output shaft, which ultimately drives the wheels.
