Kylmäpese is a Finnish term that translates to "cold wash" or "cold rinse" in English. It refers to a washing cycle on a laundry machine that uses cold water instead of warm or hot water. This setting is typically found on modern washing machines and offers several benefits for both fabric care and energy saving.

Using cold water for washing can be gentler on clothes, particularly those made of delicate materials like silk, wool, or certain synthetics, as it helps to prevent shrinkage, fading, and damage to fibers. Many modern detergents are formulated to be effective in cold water, allowing for efficient cleaning without the need for high temperatures.

From an environmental perspective, using the kylmäpese setting significantly reduces energy consumption.
