Kylmäprosesseilla

Kylmäprosesseilla refers to cold processes or cold working techniques in Finnish. These are manufacturing methods that shape or form materials at or near room temperature, as opposed to hot working processes which involve heating the material to elevated temperatures.

Common examples of cold processes include cold rolling, cold drawing, cold forging, and stamping. Cold rolling is used to produce sheets and plates with precise dimensions and improved surface finish. Cold drawing is employed to create wires, rods, and tubes with high strength and accuracy. Cold forging shapes metal components without significant heating, often resulting in strong and intricate parts. Stamping involves using a die and punch to cut or shape sheet metal at ambient temperatures.

The advantages of cold processes include improved mechanical properties such as increased tensile strength and hardness due to work hardening, better surface finish, and tighter dimensional tolerances. They also eliminate the need for heating, saving energy and reducing scaling or oxidation. However, cold working requires more force than hot working, and it can induce residual stresses in the material. Additionally, the ductility of the material is reduced, and work hardening may necessitate intermediate annealing steps for further deformation.
