Kvaziexperimentální refers to a research approach that shares characteristics with experimental research but lacks full experimental control. In a true experiment, researchers manipulate one or more independent variables and randomly assign participants to different treatment groups. This random assignment is crucial for establishing causality, as it helps ensure that groups are equivalent on all variables except the one being manipulated.

Kvaziexperimental designs, on the other hand, often involve pre-existing groups or situations where random assignment is not feasible. For example, a researcher might study the effects of a new teaching method by comparing students in a classroom that adopts the method with students in a classroom that does not. The students are not randomly assigned to these classrooms; they are already part of those groups. This lack of random assignment introduces potential confounding variables, as the groups may differ in ways other than the teaching method itself.

Despite these limitations, kvaziexperimental research is valuable when true experiments are unethical, impractical, or impossible. Researchers using these designs employ various statistical techniques to try and account for pre-existing differences between groups and to strengthen the inferences they can draw. Common examples include designs using control groups that are not randomly assigned, time-series designs that examine trends before and after an intervention, and correlational studies that explore relationships between variables without manipulation. The strength of kvaziexperimental research lies in its ability to investigate phenomena in real-world settings where complete experimental control is not achievable.
