Kumpanya

The word is borrowed from English "company" and is commonly used in both formal and informal contexts to denote a private business enterprise. While "kumpanya" generally means a business organization, the specific legal classification depends on structure and ownership, such as sole proprietorship, partnership, or corporation.

Common forms described in Filipino law and practice include sole proprietorships, partnerships, corporations, and cooperative enterprises. In everyday speech "kumpanya" may refer to any of these, with the legal form often identified by accompanying terms (for example, "korporasyon" for a corporation in formal contexts).
