Kulunud

Kulunud is a region and municipality in the northern part of Eldoria, a fictional country. It centers on the Kulun River valley and extends into adjoining woodlands and hills. The administrative seat is Kulunud City.

The name Kulunud derives from the Kulunan language, meaning "the worn road," reflecting ancient trade routes that pass through the valley.

The area covers roughly 2,000 square kilometers with a temperate climate, featuring river terraces, conifer forests, and limestone ridges. Soils support mixed agriculture and fruit orchards.

Settlement dates to the Bronze Age. The valley was a trade corridor linking northern towns to the coast. It joined the Eldorian crown in the 14th century and developed a distinct regional culture; modernization accelerated in the 20th century.

As of 2023, about 42,000 people live in Kulunud. The majority speak Kulunan; Eldoran is spoken in towns near the border. The region hosts folk music, weaving, and annual harvest festivals.

The economy relies on agriculture, forestry, light manufacturing, and tourism around nature parks and hot springs. Transport includes a railway line and a regional road network.

Kulunud Cathedral (11th century), Old Iron Bridge, Ashen Peak, Verdant Basin Nature Reserve are notable places.
