Kulemøller

Kulemøller is a term that originates from Danish and translates to "ball millers" in English. It refers to a traditional Danish method of milling grain using a ball mill, which is a type of grinder used to grind and blend materials for use in mineral dressing processes, paints, pyrotechnics, ceramics, and selective laser sintering.

The ball mill operates by rotating a cylinder with steel grinding balls, causing the balls to fall back into the cylinder and onto the material to be ground. This impact and friction between the balls and the material reduce the material to a fine powder. In the context of Kulemøller, this process is used to mill grain into flour.

The term Kulemøller is also associated with a specific type of Danish windmill, known as a post mill, which was commonly used in Denmark from the Middle Ages until the 19th century. These mills were typically used for grinding grain, and the term Kulemøller may have been used to describe the millers who operated these mills.
